What is Custom Framing

Custom framing is an art form in itself; It’s an opportunity to showcase your work, preserve your special memories and decorate your walls with your very own story.

The benefits of custom framing over an off-the-shelf frame is that it –

  • can be designed perfectly to suit your artwork. The size is right and your art work fits the frame perfectly.
  • preserves your valued art work against the elements, such as air, mould, dust and light.
  • decorates your interior spaces. A custom frame is a piece of custom furniture for your wall. It holds and protects. your story, your art work, your personality. It is a completely unique and custom product. We believe the perfect frame should enhance your artwork or keepsake without distracting from it.
  • is crafted from high-quality materials to make an impact and last a lifetime. From brainstorming an initial design concept through to producing the final product, we love bringing the best out of your work.

Our Process

  1. Each project begins with a personalised consultation at our framing table. We’ll work together to design the perfect framing style to best preserve and display your artwork or keepsake.
  2. Your chosen materials of mat board and frame moulding are ordered in from our valued suppliers in Melbourne and Brisbane.  They are unpacked, put into the stock supplies and your job is updated to be scheduled on our work board in the workshop.
  3. Our talented team of framers follow the ‘recipe’ from the job sheet generated at your consultation to handcraft your frame in our workshop.    The framer combines skills in maths, technology, craft, hands, art, photography, timber work, glass, computers, machinery and collaborative team work to bring your frame to life.
  4. Your completed frame is checked off, placed in the collection bay and you receive an SMS notification that your frame is ready to collect.
  5. You collect your frame and enjoy the transformation the frame brings to your work.  Our workmanship is guaranteed so in the event that you aren’t completely satisfied, we can negotiate amending it.

Types of Framing to suit your budget

We offer three levels of custom framing to suit your budget and suit the art work being framed. We offer entry level, a designer level and a fully conservation level of custom framing.

Entry Level
Custom Framing

This has minimal styling whilst protecting your art work against elements such as air, mould and light.

This style of framing offers a solution for those who are requiring a simple, quality custom frame for their home.  It involves selecting an inexpensive frame, glass and matting if required. Ideal for posters, movie posters, commercial prints and photos.

Preservation Framing

Here we offer a wider selection of designer options.  Your frame can be as simple, or as ornate as you like.

Work with our designers to select mat boards, frames and glass to suit your purpose and style. Options include textured mat boards, small fillets and designer mouldings which include the new Bellini range.

High end custom framing provides maximum, lifelong protection against the elements of air, moisture, light and mould.

We use archival, cotton rag matting, the art sits away from all products, the glass is museum or of conservation quality.

This style of framing is for conserving those things that you want to keep in original condition for generations to come, such as family heirlooms, old photographs, needleworks, precious art and memorabilia.  One of the most important aspec
