ARTIST CANVAS INFORMATION
All of our artist canvas is quality cotton or linen as opposed to the many cheaper poly cotton varieties. They are hand stretched in our workshop onto quality pine stretcher bars. We include bracing and each canvas can be finished with a stainless -steel hanger, protected with quality fine plastic to prevent rust.
PRE – FITTED FLOAT FRAMES AND HANGERS
We understand that the artists’ time is valuable. We now offer pre-fitted oak, black or white float frames that are fitted to your canvas frame on purchase. Just unscrew and re-screw when your artwork is completed.
We also offer our professional stainless hangers – Just unscrew and re-screw these into position when your art work is completed.
At the end of the day, your customer will be paying for this quality product as you create your unique artwork on the highest standard canvas or linen.

UN PRIMED COTTON CANVAS
Our 15oz artist quality un-primed is a robust and hard- working canvas that is suitable for oil and acrylic painting. This canvas is suitable for large format stretching as it’s thick weave means it will not lose integrity. This canvas is for the heavy- duty painter with exacting and demanding technical requirements.
These are the best quality cottons, and when woven with the above characteristics they provide a very good support for artwork. We use premium grade artists’ canvas of 15oz weights that is a double filled, twin thread construction.
This combined with a square weave, offers the most stable support able to meet the demands of humidity and temperature fluctuations, stretches well and looks good.
PRIMED COTTON CANVAS
15oz triple primed
15oz triple primed artist quality canvas has a 2×2 double weave.
This canvas is extra tough and extra thick for stretches of the largest size. This is a heavy- duty canvas, robust and durable for use with oil and acrylic in large sizes.
The canvas, and its priming (gesso), is the foundation of a painting. In painting the term canvas usually means a coated (primed) fabric, ready to use. Practically every type of woven textile has been utilised at some time for paintings, with linen, cotton, hemp and jute being the most common.
The ground (priming) performs the following important functions:
1. It isolates the support (canvas) from damaging ingredients in the paint and so prevents disintegration of the canvas
2. The ground provides a surface that accepts the paint and allows adequate adhesion. Too much absorbency will soak up the binder from the paint that can result in cracking, while too little absorbency can produce a paint film that is liable to peel off
3. In transparent and semi-transparent painting techniques the ground enhances colours by providing a white, reflective background.

ITALIAN LINEN
ITALIAN LINEN 15oz double primed
This is very smooth tight weave linen. Produced in Europe in one of the oldest linen producing factories. Great colour and smooth texture. Available in a range of roll sizes

Sourced from the flax plant, linen fibres are stronger than any other natural fibre. The fibres range in length
from 25 to 90cm and are round unlike cotton fibres that are flat. This shape provides extra strength as well as
an interesting painting surface. We use linen woven from European flax, the best in the world.
We can stretch your Italian linen canvas with either side up – primed or unprimed.
STRETCHER BARS
Solid Pine stretcher bars are used to wrap the canvas around. The ridge on the bars keep the canvas up off the frame, like a drum, so that the air stays under the canvas to let it breathe.
THESE frames are pine harvested from dedicated forest plantings which keep the environment clean and our products super sustainable.
We brace our canvases to support the frame through the middle and ensure they do not buckle over time.
ADD A FLOAT FRAME AND WIRE HANGER
Pre-order your oak float frame to have lose fitted to your canvas. You just need to unscrew the frame, create your artwork and then re screw the float frame when you’ve completed your creation.
THE HANGER
The stainless- steel wire is coated with quality plastic to keep the wire strong withstand any rusting or discolouring. This can be ordered with your canvas and is also loosely fitted for removal and re-attaching.
You can pre order your professionally made wire hanger and have it attached to your frame. You just need to unscrew and re screw to the timber oak frame or canvas when your art is completed.
